Legal Administrative Specialist

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a wide variety of technical and litigation support services. Typical work assignments will include:
Performing a variety of automated support necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop and manage exhibits, evidence and other relevant data; applying basic knowledge of Federal Criminal procedures; performing a wide range of information system analysis, development and installations; assisting and/or training attorneys and legal support staff in organizing voluminous discovery applications; preparing and organizing exhibits for court proceedings which involves audio/video, transcripts, documents and visual materials, including charts, diagrams, photographs and models; preparing computerized trial presentation programs; providing automated support to present before a jury, grand jury or in other legal proceedings; and assuring documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices, defining data file search criteria and indexing/coding fields. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. GS-7:
To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below:
Specialized Experience, Education, a combination of Education and Experience, OR Superior Academic Achievement. Specialized
Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized Experience is defined as performing the following types of duties:
providing assistance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation; identifying software packages such as:
databases, spreadsheets and word processing applications based on the effectiveness of presenting complex and voluminous evidence, scanning, indexing and controlling documents into a data base; and assuring documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices. Education:
One full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., Criminal Justice or Computer Science). Combining Education and
Experience:
Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Superior Academic Achievement:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree or expect to complete the requirements for a Bachelor's degree within the next 9 months AND possess at least one of the following criteria:
class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; OR election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
