We are looking for an Events Manager to join our team. This individual will report to the Events Director and will work with the events group to conceptualize, plan and execute Burton's global and domestic events. Candidates must be fluent in all aspects of event planning and execution across a variety of event formats including world class competitive snowboard events like the US Open, to consumer facing experiential touring event properties like the Burton Mountain Festival, as well as grassroots snowboard contests like the Party In Your Park series. We're looking for someone with a proven track record of creating and managing a diverse portfolio of events, and launching successful event marketing strategies. Understanding the dynamics of the snowboard industry is critical in this role. We're looking for someone versatile, with extensive experience who can thrive under pressure and stay organized and productive with multiple ongoing projects and tight timelines. Professionalism, savvy business sense, and articulate and concise communication and presentation skills will set the best candidates apart from the rest. The Burton Events Manager will need a very unique and specific skill set whether that's in the office developing marketing plans and providing design direction on creative identities and collateral or in the field managing an event staff and overseeing operations and logistics for a multi-day on-snow event. Experience in everything from snow course construction, TV and Webcast production, multi-layered A/V & IT infrastructure planning, venue layout, branding, tour routing, talent buying, contract negotiation, and media planning will be needed in this position.
Responsibilities:
Manage the planning and execution of the Burton Mountain Festival tour, Party In Your Park series, Frendly Gathering sponsorship activation, snowboard summer camp/demo programs and play a key role in planning and operations for the US Open and other international events projects.
Work closely with the Marketing leadership team to set strategy for Burton's global and domestic events platform
Responsibilities on event projects include identifying market needs and recommending event programming and activation plans that support corporate initiatives and brand goals, developing creative identities, marketing collateral, and event assets, sourcing and managing relationships with any outside contractors, vendors, or event staff, overseeing permitting, budgeting, travel planning, shipping/storage logistics, on-site operations, and managing post-event reporting.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders in the PR, Digital, Content, Web, Design, and Brand teams to develop well-considered, and effective marketing campaigns to support events while aligning with top marketing stories and corporate goals and initiatives.
Manage process to track all media coverage and output from events and create post event reporting documents to deliver to sponsors and senior management.
Liaise with external sales reps, agencies, and event partners to ensure clear communication and smooth execution of all satellite event activations. Represent the events group in a professional manner through all written, verbal and in-person communications.
Review proposals for event sponsorships and identify/recommend potential fits for the brand. Coordinate the day to day logistics of event sponsorship executions.
Develop and manage multiple project budgets
Supervise in-house event professionals within the group including recruiting, retaining, and goal setting, and performance reviews.
Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years in marketing and event production. Snowboarding or action sports experience is preferred and candidates will be asked to present a portfolio of both consumer focused events and athletic or competitive events that they have successfully managed. Candidates must be extremely detail oriented and organized with a proven method for project management, possess excellent communication and presentation skills, possess strong computer skills, and have strong relationship building ability. Candidates should have sound high level decision making ability and must be comfortable working independently and taking initiative on kicking off projects and leading them forward. Management or supervisory experience is necessary. Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be available to work an extended schedule. This includes weekends, early mornings, evenings, holidays and extended travel.
