Responsible for leading cross-site and cross-functional improvement initiatives and supporting our CPI to enhance productivity, improve employee effectiveness, and meet business objectives
Establishes plans and objectives for network-wide improvement initiatives linked to business objectives
Communicates a clear vision and direction to rally the network around a compelling picture of success and breakthrough results
Partners with network leadership to develop and drive strategic priorities including creating strategy A3s and project plans to support network and CPI goals
Considers network and site perspectives in the application of change and guides others in considering the entire range of factors that help and hinder key initiatives
Develops network-wide communications with the Leadership Team and CPI Core Team on Lean transformation
Acts as communication liaison between improvement event teams, functional areas, site and network leadership
Partners with and coaches business leaders and CPI Facilitators in preparing for and sustaining improvement
Uses knowledge of personalities and team dynamics and employs various approaches to effectively solve problems, mobilize commitment, and overcome resistance to change
Uses active listening and discussion skills to identify issues, ensure understanding and facilitate problem-solving
Celebrates and communicates key successes across the network to reinforce CPI practices and competencies
Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and manage cross-site and cross-functional improvement events (Rapid Improvement Events, 6S Events, Structured Problem Solving, etc.) building project timelines, and executing follow-up activities
Present to and teach teams ranging from 5 to 60 individuals key concepts around CPI including: A3s, 6S, visual controls, brainstorming, Root Cause Analysis, Structured Problem Solving, 8 Wastes, RIEs, Pull method, TAKT time, one piece flow and strategy deployment
Align and implement CPI best practice methods across portion pack manufacturing, network, and site strategic/tactical priorities
Support network initiatives run by the Operational Excellence and Site CPI Managers and Facilitators
Write and maintain training and presentation documents for CPI tools and CPI management principles
Manages assigned portfolio of CPI Initiatives (including the management of improvement events, building project timelines, and executing follow-up activities)
Develops business cases for improvement initiatives and collect, track, and analyze CPI metrics (financial and other quantitative measures) of CPI initiatives and report to the network on status and progress
Applies best practices for introducing, driving and sustaining major change initiatives thru leveraging appropriate CPI tools and technology to maximize business impact
Provide appropriate levels of attention, sharing, and guidance to functional managers, network counterparts, and other stakeholders
Coach network leaders to translate CPI knowledge into daily work through organizational routines
Develop network-wide communications about results of CPI efforts and make recommendations for best practices to be implemented
Create and build CPI Culture thru engagement, communication and celebration
Provides coaching for challenging and stretching tasks for direct and indirect CPI leaders and facilitators
Coaches and develops internal capability of CPI counterparts and functional leaders to lead improvement work
Works with external CPI/Lean organizations locally and nationally to provide CPI best practice education and cross company networks of CPI champions
Required Skills
BA/BS Degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Engineering, Operations Research, or similar
7
years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and continuous process improvement
Strong leadership skills and experience leading Continuous Process Improvement initiatives across multi-site and cross-functional teams
Experience training others on job components and working in a manufacturing setting
Thorough understanding and experience in teaching and application of advanced CPI tools
Understanding of manufacturing business processes and value streams
Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations
Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and train CPI Facilitators, Process Owners, Champions, Steering Committees and Project Teams
Leads by example; personally models desired values, behaviors, and work practices for co-workers
Excellent project management skills
Ability to multi-task, work with multiple stakeholders, and meet performance goals
This position requires 25% travel (on average 1 week per month will be spent at another site)Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
