Position Overview The Communications Specialist will guide Local Motion's communications strategy in alignment with Local Motion's vision and strategic plan to help us fulfill our mission.
The Communications Specialist manages Local Motion's online presence (including website and social media) and supports the Executive Director in execution of fundraising campaigns.
With responsibility for all outward facing marketing materials, the Communications Specialist collaborates with and provides support to all programs, assuring consistent branding and clear messaging to amplify Local Motion's mission.

Key Responsibilities Communications - 75% ? Annually, work with the Executive Director and Communications Team to review and establish the communications strategy and plan for the upcoming calendar year.
? Prepare an annual communications budget and monitor spending.
? Lead the internal Communications Team in regular check-in meetings.
? Develop and maintain style guides and document templates to ensure consistency and cohesiveness of the Local Motion brand.
? Create and maintain internal communications policies and communications handbook.
? Manage external communications, including press releases, email marketing, social media, and newsletters, and analyze data with an eye towards continuous improvement.
? Manage and maintain Local Motion's website to ensure we are providing accurate and up-to-date information.
? Collaboratively develop content in graphic and narrative form for our services and programs and work to meet communications needs.
? Oversee the creation and fulfillment of print materials across the organization to ensure messaging and strategy are effectively executed.
? Dependent on aptitude and knowledge of subject matter, contribute to advocacy efforts by drafting op-eds, social media posts, and other public outreach materials.
Development - 25% ? Work with the Communications Team to create, implement, and analyze annual fundraising campaigns.
? Plan and execute community events to grow our network of supporters, prioritizing engagement with diverse communities.
? Assist in maintaining Local Motion's NationBuilder customer relationship system and website platform.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ? Excellent writing and editing skills, in a style that engages people and draws them in.
? Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage projects concurrently in a busy office environment in a self-directed way.
? Experience communicating with a wide variety of audiences in print, social media, and in-person.
? Demonstrated proficiency and experience with social media tools (including Instagram and Facebook) to tell organization's story, inform community, engage supporters, and enhance brand visibility.
? Experience and/or aptitude for creative content and graphic design; proficiency with graphic design software including Adobe Creative Cloud programs and Canva.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS ? Previous experience managing or coordinating communications.
? Experience with the NationBuilder platform or proficiency with other similar CRM software programs and/or interest and ability to learn.
? Experience in creating compelling video content is a plus.

WAGE $22-25/hour for 30-35 hours per week plus benefits.

About Local Motion Local Motion is Vermont's statewide advocate for active transportation, vibrant communities, and safe streets.
Based in Burlington Vermont, we work at the local and state levels to support better roads and trails for biking and walking, teach bike skills training programs for children and adults, collaborate with government to improve on-road safety, and inspire and support local advocates across Vermont to become leaders for better biking and walking in their communities.
We also rent bikes to the public at our Trailside Center and operate the Island Line Bike Ferry connecting the Burlington area to the Champlain Islands.
