The Director of Software Engineering provides leadership and strategic direction for the Microsoft Dynamics AX billing platform team which supports, maintains, and enhances the billing-to-cash financial platform for the Dealer.com business unit of Cox Automotive Inc. The Director is a leader who can effectively manage a software delivery team to be successful by fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and high-performance, while delivering an excellent customer experience. In addition to leading the software delivery lifecycle this individual must demonstrate strong team building and development skills responsible for developing their team members and ensuring overall Agile health, team morale, company culture, and high productivity. This person must overcome technical, cultural, and organizational impediments, mentor technical staff, and collaborate with other agile, product, architecture, and engineering resources. The Director should have a passion for delivering results, managing business stakeholders, and learning how new technologies and processes can deliver optimal software for our customers. Reporting to the Senior Director of Software Engineering for Enterprise Platforms - Corporate Systems, the Director of Software Engineering is a part of a strategic organization tasked with building scalable solutions to support billing for the Dealer.com product offering of Cox Automotive. The Director will work closely with engineering leadership and key stakeholders to execute the strategic priorities of the company specifically within the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics AX. The Director of Software Engineering will lead a technology team primarily located in Burlington, Vermont. The successful candidate must have a track record of achieving success in a dynamic, fast-paced software development environment. They must be able to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and make appropriate engineering decisions quickly. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering, product management and external partners Provides input to the executive leadership team in terms of strategic decision making, budgets, hiring, and process changes Builds a positive working environment and culture of learning to ensure teams overall morale and productivity continually improve Communicates a clear technical vision, strategy, goals, and objectives Responsibility for the engineering and architecture alignment of all solutions Vendor management and maintain relationships with internal technology, architect, product, and provisioning teams Acts as escalation contact for technical and partner issues, representing the company and customer needs professionally, while supporting and mentoring their team Ensures that team organization, individual development, and communications are in-line with technology vision; builds high performing teams and fosters team collaboration and productivity Manages conflict effectively and able to positively represent the team to others Execution includes delivery of planned word, with deliverables that meet company standards with respect to quality, scalability, and reliability Effectively communicates with key stakeholders when either scope or timeline of deliverables require modification Instills an agile mindset and helps implement best practices, tools, and procedures Tracks, measures, and reports on delivery metrics to assess overall success Manages career progression for team members to include hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, and coaching
Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent experience 7
years of technology and software engineering leadership experience in a complex and fast-paced business environment Strong software engineering and software architecture skills Proven ability to deliver results in an agile environment Preferred:
Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform Team player with excellent work habits and interpersonal skills Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and presentation skills Ability to build trust and strong working relationships across the organization at all levels Comfortable working with ambiguity and change
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Software Development, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
