## Job Description
This position is responsible for the maintenance and development of the organization's technical infrastructure on 24/7/365 basis. This position may package and test applications.
II. Principal
Responsibilities:
Daily tasks include production support managed through a centralized ticketing system. Utilize knowledge base system and peers to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Escalate issues to SME and collaborate to bring resolution.
Defines, creates and maintains the organization's technical infrastructure within respective computing environments. Analyses, tests and implements physical infrastructure design supporting various business applications.
Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards to ensure systems recovery, maintenance and integrity. Monitors and analyzes systems indicators and takes corrective action when indicated. Follows and refines processes to recover from hardware, software and environmental failures. Develops documentation according to internal standards, pertaining to the development, implementation and maintenance of the organization's technical architecture.
Provides various levels of technical support in the planning, coordination, programming and implementation of releases, upgrades or changes to the system software, transaction monitors and a wide range of tools and products that support the test and production environments.
Maintains, monitors and enhances the assigned infrastructure including disc and storage utilization, security permissions, patch remediation, performance monitoring, backups and restarts, service pack and operating system upgrades. Performs capacity planning and workload modeling.
May perform packaging and testing of new applications, maintains the application data repository and gold images. Documents test findings and meets service level agreements. Performs rollback of application when required.
Researches and evaluates different cutting edge technologies to implement business goals.

Position does require some late night work as well as on-call support rotated on a pre-scheduled basis with other members of the team.
Ability to share and utilize knowledge and resources to provide effective solutions to systems problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to convey technical information to internal and external contacts.
Ability to work well with a team.
Knowledge of relational database model and techniques. Experience in designing, modeling, developing and supporting database systems. Knowledge of server-side development issues and of the organization's operating systems.
Strong analytical skills are needed to weigh various technical solutions against the original business needs and choose the most cost-effective solution.
