As an Engagement Associate, a typical day may include:
Meeting with a student who is currently unengaged in Jewish life on campus and learning their story.
Follow-up coffee meetings with a few students from your Taglit-Birthright Israel trip.
Working with the Director of Jewish Student Leadership to plan microShabbats, outdoors initiatives, or campus tabling events.
Meeting with and supervising student interns.
Hanging out in the LEED certified Davis Student Center and meeting students.
Spending time responding to e-mails, developing flyers, and inputting information into our student database system.
Meeting with fraternity or sorority members to discuss co-sponsoring an upcoming event.
Recruiting students for the upcoming Taglit-Birthright Israel trip.
Helping table and bringing materials around campus and residence halls.
What you ll do here:
Outreach and Engagement
Develop one-on-one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work and/or study, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them.
Develop strategic relationships with professionals from the university s student life programs, helping to ensure positive positioning of Hillel in the university landscape as well as facilitating partnerships in the planning and actualization of programs and activities.
Empower newly engaged students to create and implement meaningful Jewish experiences with and for their peers.
Recruit for and potentially staff immersion experiences, such as Taglit-Birthright Israel and/or Alternative Breaks, and implement pre- and post-trip engagement plans.
Planning and Program Implementation
Develop and implement a strategic program/initiative planning model for engagement.
Work collaboratively with segments of student leadership to develop cooperative programming and build positive on-going relationships with students.
Maintain records of programs and attendance for measurement and ongoing evaluation.
Help with planning and implementation of major programs, Shabbat and holidays.
Marketing and Communications
Develop means of communication with students for the purposes of program recruitment and marketing of new engagement opportunities.
Utilize social media platforms and encourage student ownership of Hillel initiatives.
Supervision and Professional Growth
Participate in weekly professional supervision with the Director and weekly staff meetings.
Participate in ongoing Jewish learning and growth with other staff members.
Participate in staff retreats.
Prepare and present information to the Board of Directors and various stakeholders.
